From Daily Tasks to International Competitions: How ESSIQ Powers Our Progress and Last Season’s Car Reveal
Each year, the journey to create a brand new Formula Student car begins long before the first component is designed or manufactured. Our project relies on engineering skills, collaboration, and a steady pace of development, but just as crucial is our ability to stay agile. From supplier visits to long-haul competition trips, mobility is a cornerstone of our work. In this, ESSIQ has become an indispensable partner whose support reaches far beyond what most people expect.

ESSIQ supports our team in a uniquely practical way: by providing us with access to their Mini Cooper, a vehicle that has become one of the most essential tools in our entire workflow. The car plays a vital role in everything from everyday logistics to major international trips. It enables us to respond quickly to manufacturing needs, transport equipment, and remain flexible throughout the year, all of which are essential for a team that builds a new race car from scratch every season.
The Mini That Makes a Formula Student Season Possible
Over the past years, ESSIQ’s Mini has been central to our workflow. It has carried the team members and equipment across Europe for competitions in Austria and Germany, and last season, it even carried us all the way to Luxembourg, where we purchased the honeycomb core for our monocoque, significantly reducing freight costs and giving us control over sourcing.
Throughout the season, the Mini made multiple trips to Nyköping, where we used a larger industrial oven to cure the monocoque. This step is essential to composite manufacturing and requires several visits to ensure the process runs smoothly. The Mini has even handled the long journey to Umeå to pick up our new trailer, further demonstrating its importance in our workflow.
These trips are not small tasks or quick errands. They are essential to the flow of our project, and without a reliable vehicle available at all times, completing them would be extremely difficult. ESSIQ’s trust in allowing us to use the Mini gives us a level of mobility that directly hapes our ability to build a competitive car each year.
Support That Extends Beyond the Road
ESSIQ’s involvement doesn’t stop at providing the Mini. They have also supported the team with our much-appreciated team jackets, which have become a favourite among members. Many wear them regularly, even outside of team activities, giving us a unified and professional look at events while also creating great visibility for both ESSIQ and KTH Formula Student around campus. Together, we hosted our design reveal, creating an opportunity to present our engineering progress and share our work with partners and alumni.
ESSIQ’s support plays a crucial role in ensuring our operations run efficiently throughout the season.
